Tis the season for weddings. What to do for a cute, last minute, inexpensive, plus-size outfit?! Head to Walmart and Forever21. It doesn't get much quicker and more convenient than that! Let's face it, times are tough, malls are overwhelming, and why not get your outfit while picking up some groceries?
Sick. Trying to function as a normal human, and cannot...
So, I had sinus issues before I traveled on a plane last week. I guess the plane pushed fluid into my ears, and my equilibrium has been off the last few days. Walking around nearly incoherent and dizzy is a really bad idea!!!
Trying to get healthy and back on track. I apologize for the delay in posts, but I still love ya!
I'm so excited that today is Saturday! Made some gluten-free Pamela's pancakes with almond butter and agave nectar before I head out to Turbo Kickboxing. It's amazing how I can workout after eating pancakes, however gluten-free is totally different. They're not heavy and easily digested. My new Gluten-free life has improved my health tremendously. My tummy no longer hurts, and it's a pain that will never be missed!
I hope to have some time to go shopping today. I need some white and/or black dress shorts for South Beach! Speaking of Miami.... This little guy is teaching me to dance:
I'm exhausted! I sat on a plane for 8 out of the last 39 hours... Now I know why my boss made me go see him and not vice-versa.
So.... of course the one time I'm out of town Brian plays soccer against... TONY ROMO!!!!! What the frick?!?!?! Very jealous, but also happy for the hubby at the same time. I don't care about the Cowboys, but some famous athlete, celebrity action is always Awesome. And no people... Romo is not a Homo, haha! I've had my picture with him as well, so I can't get too jealous.
Here's the Futbol Quarterback (obviously it's hard to kick the ball and take a pic at the same time, but good job Babe!)
Here's a pic that I'm in (and my husband) from a few years back when Romo signed his big contract:
Anywho, something that I found Hilarious today- So, I changed into sweats and a t-shirt in the Philly airport on my way back to Dallas. I am always cold, and wanted to be comfy on my short 4 HOUR flight. I was chilling at a different gate so that I could take advantage of an open outlet to charge the most awesome phone ever made even though it can't hold a call very well, everything else about it is awesome and life changing.
Anyways, this lady, God love her, she was quite Fabulous to say the least, she asked if I knew how long the flight was, I explained to her that I was not on that flight, just mooching off the outlet, but asked where she was headed. She was from Houston and flying to Brussels to see her daughter in an opera that her daughter wrote. How Amazing is that?! I told her that she must be the proudest mom on Earth, and of course, she was. I told her that I was headed back to Dallas and we conversed about how Texas is the greatest country in North America and has the best food, yada yada (that's why we're the fattest, thank you very much! But Excuse Me! We have the best restaurants EVER, so, it's kinda not completely everyone's fault, they just need to balance the portions with time spent in the gym). Geez, this is a long story and I'm putting myself to sleep already, sorry.
This incredible lady with the talented kid overseas, explained to me that her daughter was doing a study abroad program and whatnot, and that she attended SMU (Southern Methodist University aka 'a private school for rich kids') that's here in Dallas. She asked "What school do you go to?" WOW! Thank you lady for not only making my day, but making me laugh, I wanted to hug her! Remember how I said I changed into sweats and a t-shirt?! Yeah, I was wearing Victoria's Secret PiNK LSU sweats and an LSU tee. That was my laugh, it's the little things that count people! I should've gotten her some better reading glasses since the 5x10inch "LSU" wasn't big enough.
I found out that my birth control was making me FAT! Ugh! After much research and against my doctor's belief, it's TRUE! The new Loestrin 24 fe CAN make you fat (amongst many other side effects that I've experienced)! I know that every birth control has it's own side effects, but this has never happened to me... I'm about to consult with a new doctor that understands me. Here's what I have previously taken and what happened to me:
1. Yasmin- Made me Psychotic, but my boobs big
2. Yaz- Was great at first, then made me incredibly moody
3. Loestrin 24 fe- Made me FAT!!!
I felt like a Bloated Britney 1wk ago, and now I'm back to normal.
These are the most beautiful sandals EVER! I love them like I would a child! They don't hurt me, they look beautiful, they take me from being a midget to slightly tall and slender, I love them almost as much as I love life!
What are these Fabulous wedges?! Ralph Lauren 'Lucita'. They retail for $100 and I got them at Ross for $27! I think I really need to give Ross a HUGE Shout Out for making my life so Awesome! The unbelievable steals and deals that I find at Ross... well, I can't even put into words, I just jump up and down for JOY! Also, I need to seriously thank the Rockstar Gaby, without her, I would not currently own these shoes. She sent me a pic the day these came in, and I ran and got them immediately!
2 days ago, my son, Sebastian Alejandro, nearly had his life shortened... I found him chewing on my RL's!!!!!! My entire neighborhood probably heard my scream! It's safe to say, no damage was done and my son has lived another day!
These shoes are a perfect example of Ralph Lauren's simple, classy and chic design that is ageless. I plan to keep these wedges for the rest of my life! Can you image the most styling 80 yr old ever, wearing 4.5" RL wedges?! Yep, that will be me decades from now!
What are your favorite, classy finds that you will probably keep in your closet for decades?
My new job allows me to work with my Hubster! We're like the new Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie power couple. @Lenovo Live event, The "W" Downtown Dallas:
Ready for all the Outfit info?!
Marshall's- White button-down Ruffled top with light gray pin stripes: $14.99
Ross- Light gray pants with white pin stripes: $9.99
Image- Awesome black belt with silver bling: $6.99
Marshall's- Black Chinese Laundry heels: $15.00
I think this is one of my favorite work outfits. It's very conservative, but with added fashion elements that make it "your look." And the heels are actually Super-Comfortable. They are quite possibly my new favorite shoes. I purchased this outfit during lunch on Wednesday, so that I could wear it on Thursday. Something in me just told me that I needed to go to the Ross and Marshall's in Preston Center (these are the best ones in town, in my opinion). I'm not sure if it was God or Visa... But whatever it was, knew that I was about to find an awesome work-look for under $50. Can you imagine, shoes included?! Come on people, most of the time shoes alone are more than what this entire outfit cost!!!
Onto some other important events... I haven't had time to post in the last 24+ hours, so my workout Wednesday night: 24 Set for 60min, which there was a sub and I think she thought it was '24 Step.' It was a pure blast from the past, and I cannot believe she forgot to wear her thong outside of her leggings! This girl, yeah, I'm referring to myself, does NOT do Step... I kinda did it in my own joking way... Hoping around looking like an idiot on purpose. I also did 15min abs, and that was awesome!
Yesterday was DANCEATON pronounced like Reggaeton. This would be my ALL-Time Favorite class EVER in the whole world! I do dance class many times per a week with the Famous: Gaby Gnazzo (yeah, just Google her, she really is famous). I burn at least 600 calories in this class, and I have never been in a class that is more fun and entertaining than this one. So, I did 15min abs and 60min Danceaton. To catch a glimpse of what Danceaton is all about CLICK HERE!
What a crazy busy day it was yesterday! I had a million meetings, a great time overall, but no time to do all the things that I used to have countless hours to do... After work, I was off to TKB, cooked dinner, BFlo's soccer game, then met up with a vendor/rep/friend for some good ol' Red Mango (all natural fro-yo).
I wanted to share a great way to make white fish with you all. Last night I made some orange roughy. Preheated the oven to 400, melted 1tbsp of butter to pour on top of the fish on my foil lined baking sheet. Squeezed some agave nectar on top of that. Put some sliced almonds and unsweetened coconut chips into the food processor and crushed that up and sprinkled on top of the fish. Cooked for 20min and VOILA! Dinner! We had some basmati rice and 49 cent cantaloupe with that, it was quite tasty!
Let's not forget the deal of the day found by the Lovely Miss Terrie. I cannot believe that she got a shirt at Ross for $1.97?!!!! What a ROCKSTAR!
I started the new job today, it was exciting, boring, nerve-racking, frustrating, overwhelming, and AWESOME! With the boss man on the East Coast, it was a little hard getting things accomplished in a timely manner, but with some help from some amazing people, I can access my work email on my iPhone!!! What?! What?! I know that B.Flo is so jealouso right now! (for those of you that don’t know, the hubster has a blackberry for work email and an iPhone because he “had” to have it). Glad that all my business can get accomplished through one single cellular! Hopefully I’ll get my laptop tomorrow, otherwise, Lenovo it will be thanks to my amazing man!
After a great workout with my favorite Rockstar and an alright TKB teacher (she’s good, but not like super good, 600 calories good), I made dinner for the Prince. I made Alaska Salmon Bake which is highlighted under my recipe section with mashed potatoes and a salad (organic Costco greens, tomato, red onion, mini cucumbers, avocados, crumbled goat cheese, balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil). And we ate while watching the Bachelorette, how romantic?! Haha! Yeah, it was a little too romantic, so we decided to throw on some “Real Housewives of New Jersey” just to add some violence to the romance, ha! Speaking of New Jersey, I will be on my way there next week to meet up with the new boss and hopefully avoid being smacked around by those crazy Jersey girls!
On a happier, fashionista note… I got a Fabulous belt this weekend for $6.99!!!! CaChing! Check it out:
Came from this store called Image at Willowbend Mall in Plano. Image doesn’t have a website, but they’re out of Cali. I really love their deals. I also got some necessity spaghetti tanks for $2.99.
Questions that MUST be answered if you just read this post: What was your workout today, and what was your best ‘find’ this weekend?! (It can be anything… grocery deal, kid deal, underwear deal, whatev…)
So, I head over to Ross the afternoon to see if I can find some cute, new work clothes, and being the kind soul that I am, I went over to the men's section to look for my hubby. To my greatest surprise, I found his favorite brand of golf shirts- Tiger Woods! I can never find Tiger Woods golf shirts at Ross! Luckily for me, the only size left was his. Can you believe that I found a $70-$90 (prices very at different stores) Tiger Woods golf shirt at Ross?! It was... wait for it... $22.99! Awesome!
So here it is... And here's some fashion advice to go along with it: DO NOT EVER allow any man you know wear pleated pants!!! This is a SERIOUS fashion disaster. So disregard the dorky guy and his pleated pants.
SO... Today is my last day working at the bank, it's a bittersweet moment. Working here is like my second home, everyone is family. It may be because this is my 3rd time working here and they can't seem to get rid of me... You never know, there may be a 4th, haha!
Monday will be a start to a new chapter, I'm super-excited about my new job, I plan to be the next Steve Jobs or Bill Gates, so watch out world, it could happen, Jamie's back in the IT industry!!! OHHHHH! Just thought of this, I could totally revolutionize the world of IT by teaching them the basics of fashion, this could be really good- From Geek to Chic? I totally see it as a future blog…
But what I really wanted to share with you guys is how I truly believe that I was poisoned by Starbucks. I laugh while saying this, but I’m not joking. I got the new Iced Via stuff, because I thought, “well, this is only $.50 per iced coffee, because I only drink talls (which would be half of the mix), so this could last a while and save me money!” I tried it on Tuesday and WOW!!!!!!! I was like a zombie the entire day! Like I drank an entire bottle of Nyquil. Unbelievable! But don’t you worry, I’m takin this stuff back! Have you ever had a bad experience at this wonderfully, overpriced coffee house that is incredibly addicting?
HOWEVER, I did go back to The ‘Bucks this morning to allow them an opportunity to redeem themselves And they DID! My ‘tall Americano in a grande cup’ was Awesome! I would also like to give a shout out to Two Moms in the Raw, http://www.twomomsintheraw.com/, who provided me with a scrumptious, gluten-free, certified organic breakfast this morning. The only thing I can eat in Starbucks. I am so happy that Starbucks is supporting the gluten-free lifestyle, now if I can just get them to use Almond Milk.
Enjoy the day and seize the moment! Carpe Diem!
What are some of your favorite Starbucks stories?!
To shop designer men's fashion without the designer prices, Nordstrom Rack is the way to go. My best-dressed man of the century is a picky little princess when it comes to clothing, but we've gotten some great deals! This look is classy and trendy all at the same time. Ross has some awesome shoes at amazing prices, so there's no reason to go out on the town looking like you come from the slums of Slumdog Millionaire. Even though it's super hit or miss, I have even seen English Laundry shirts at Ross for $19.99.
Guys are so easy to dress, give them some jeans or cargo shorts, with a button-down shirt or trendy tee and they're good to go. SO... if you have any men in your life that are complete fashion disasters, please send them my way! Rarely are guys hard to fit.
I know this is kinda random, but I really NEED these Hot PiNK rims!!! They'll match my PiNK hibiscus sticker on the back of my car Perfectly! So if you know anyone in the biz that can hook me up, give me a holler!
Today's the BIG day for these two teams to determine who will advance to the championship game. I won't say who I'm cheering for because I can't jinx anything... But check out the awesome fan pics below, and submit any that you have of your own for your favorite team.
An additional pic for good measure... Diego Forlán
This short video from Jillian Michaels has 3 awesome ab workouts that are short and sweet and are a great workout. I did them this morning! Check them out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywprNrEONWo Also, Jillian has an app for the iPhone that features these mini workout videos as well as a tracker for calorie counting, fitness tracking and more! I LOVE it! Just search the App Store for Jillian Michaels Fitness Motivation.
This is what we're having for dinner tonight (30min meal).... light, easy and reminds me of Mexico. Serve with Tostadas and a salad.
* 2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil * 1 bay leaf * 1 medium onion, halved and thinly sliced * 2 jalapeño peppers, seeded and very thinly sliced, or to taste * 4 cloves garlic, minced * 1 pound peeled and deveined raw shrimp, (16-20 per pound; see Shopping Tip) * 3 medium tomatoes, diced * 1/4 cup thinly sliced pitted green olives * 1 lime, cut into 4 wedges
1. Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add bay leaf and cook for 1 minute. Add onion, jalapeños and garlic and cook, stirring, until softened, about 3 minutes. Stir in shrimp, cover and cook until pink and just cooked through, 3 to 4 minutes. Stir in tomatoes and olives. Bring to a simmer, reduce heat to medium-low, replace cover and cook until the tomatoes are almost broken down, 2 to 3 minutes more. Remove the bay leaf. Serve with lime wedges.
While you're picking up your last minute 4th of July items at WalMart, don't forget to get something cute to wear! I know, people think "WalMart?! I'm not buying clothes at WalMart!" They have cute stuff, and I'm no WalMart snob, so whatev... Think what you want.
If you want to look cute at the BBQ, you can get this for $16, wear over leggings if it's too short for your taste.
I would like to preface that I did not jump on Brazil's bandwagon, but I am showing support to my Brazilian fans by doing an outfit upon request. This chica is no poser. Brazil is so good that they really don't need me to be their fan... Buena Suerte Brazil!
