Long Sleeves Please?

The weather in Dallas is Crazy! Yesterday was 70 something, and guess what the low is tonight? 29, as in fahrenheit, as in below freezing, as in I will be wearing a scarf to bed tonight!

When my Mom was in town over Thanksgiving weekend, of course we went shopping, because that's what we do best! I have never found a shopping buddy like my Mom. So, please help me convince her to move down here, life is just not as fun without my favorite shopping buddy ;(

We had a Fabulous Find at A'Gaci-

Long Sleeve Button Trim Sweater: $7.50 @A'Gaci

There were several colors to choose from, and these are the two I got- Raspberry & Brown. The only thing you need to be cautious about it that they run really small. The small almost cut the circulation off from my arms because the sleeves were so tight. I tried on a medium in the raspberry and it was much better, so I grabbed a medium in the brown as well. I wore the brown one to church on Sunday, and that medium was a whole lot smaller! Word to the wise, try it on before you rip the tags off. Fortunately it wasn't too small, so it's no biggie.  But for $7.50?! Geez! I will be staying warm for cheap!

BTW, I was featured on SkinnyRunner's blog yesterday. I felt very honored and privileged. A special thanks to the SkinnyRunner fan club that checks out my blog- You are Awesome!!! I got her an early birthday present, and does she look Awesome or what?

To find out the details of the outfit, check out SkinnyRunner.com!

How do you stay warm at night?

VS BOGO!

Give a gift to yourself, or send this over to your husband/boyfriend/fiance or maybe even your mom or sister?

Victoria's Secret is having a buy one get one half off sale on bras now through November 30th @11:59pm. Use the code VSBOGO. This is a great deal IF shipping didn't cost as much as the bra! Getting screwed on postage... what's new? So, if you go to retailmenot.com you will find another code for free shipping over $50: FREE50. This waived the $11 shipping charge for me. I also found a $21 giftcard in my wallet! WooHoo! So two bras cost me $39! Oh Yeah!

VS hardly ever has what I want in the store, and they discontinued the bra I like in the store, but still carry it online. That totally makes sense... That's why I prefer to shop VS online. Plus, it's easier to find sizes online as well.

If you're my friend, don't forget about my annual VS Fashion Show Watching Party tomorrow night! The show starts at 9pm. I love VS, and random parties are so much fun, so make your way this way. ALSO, I'm making PiNK cookies! I found this great recipe at my new favorite blog: TheSceneFromMe.com. You won't want to miss it!

Do you have random celebrations?
Are you EXCITED for the VS Fashion Show?!

What the heck is Yuzu???
I googled it. Here is Wikipedia's definition: "The Yuzu is a citrus fruit and plant originating in East Asia. It is believed to be a hybrid of sour mandarin and Ichang papeda. The fruit looks a bit like a very small grapefruit with an uneven skin, and can be either yellow or green depending on the degree of ripeness. Yuzu fruits, which are very aromatic, typically range between 5.5 and 7.5 cm in diameter, but can be as large as a grapefruit (up to 10 cm or larger)." Here's a pic:

Have you tried this new concept of yogurt?

The DEAL of My Thanksgiving Weekend

We made our first purchase for our new house today and I am quite excited for two reasons: 1) Because I LOVE it! 2) It was an Awesome price! I found our new ottaman/coffee table!

I found it yesterday with my mom at Ross! Priced at $119, we got it for the grand total of $116 (tax included). People, yes you can bargain at bargain stores! There were some small slices in the leather under the trays, so they took 10% off. Don't be afraid to ask.

This is piece of furniture is SO useful. It provides 4 spaces for storage. It won't hurt me if I run into the edge. When my favorite nephews come over, all we have to do is throw everything inside, flip the overturned tray upside down and voila, they can climb, play, puke all over it, and it's easy to clean and nothing to damage. It's also a great place for this guy to play in-

This is what I found that was a comparable online:

Did I get a great deal, or what?!

Thanksgiving Traditions, or Untraditions?

After seeing live turkeys at church that were reminding us to feed those in need and love our neighbors, I wasn't too gung-ho about eating a poor little guy or girl in celebration of Thanksgiving this year. For some reason I don't associate these little gobblers with the ground turkey that I make at least once a week for dinner, but I do associate them with my Thanksgiving meal, and wasn't up to participating in the assassination of an innocent turkey this year.

AND Since I'm a Latina in a white girl's body (still not sure how this happened), and I'm having Thanksgiving at our house, we're changing things up and having a different type of meal...

We will be having Brisket Tacos, that I will make using the following recipe-
INGREDIENTS
3 1/2 pounds beef brisket, trimmed and cut in half
1 large onion, cut into medium wedges
1 package McCormick® Slow Cookers BBQ Pulled Pork Seasoning
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/3 cup cider vinegar

DIRECTIONS
1. Place the brisket in slow cooker. Add onion.

2. Mix Seasoning, ketchup, brown sugar and vinegar until blended. Pour the mixture over brisket. Cover.

3. Cook 8 hours on LOW or 4 hours on HIGH. Remove brisket to serving platter.

4. Slice thinly across the grain.
We will also be having gallo pinto, 'Tico-style' (click here to find out what this is), Jalapeno Corn Casserole, salad, my Father-in-law is making Cajun fish, and for dessert we're having fresh fruit with homemade whipped cream.

It probably sounds like more of a Fiesta, but that's what family time is all about!

And it just wouldn't be Thanksgiving if I didn't have anything to be Thankful for. So today, I am thankful for the slacks, sweater dress, and short sleeve sweater, all of which I got at Marshall's or Ross for $12.99 each!

What are you doing for Thanksgiving?
And what are you Thankful for?

Burpies & Bad Press

No, the topics aren't related, and by Burpies, I'm not referring to what babies puke on.

First off, Burpies are a dreaded part of many exercise routines that I participate in at the gym. I think we did at least 50 in Kickboxing the other day, and 30 last night in Athletic Training. I hate burpies. They make me dizzy and snot come out of my nose when I have upper respiratory issues (like I've had the past 2 weeks), and they're really HARD! But they are an amazing piece to insert into your cardio routine. They make your heart pump really fast, and work many parts of your body. Watch the video to see how they're done.

You don't have to add the push-up and can jump back up without it. If you're in the mood to whip your own butt, might as well add the push-up since you're already down there.
---------------------------------------

The AMAs (American Music Awards) were on Sunday night, and for those of you who didn't see them... well, I didn't watch them either :( Oops! Sorry, there was a really good football game on, seriously there was, and I do participate in 2 Fantasy Football leagues. I know you're probably shocked right now, but I like to keep people guessing :)

Apparently it's no longer about the glam at award shows, but about "What makes me look the most retarded so I can get as much publicity as possible?" Kinda like the saying "There's no such thing as bad press." Here's what you missed-
Jada and Willow Smith
I'm pretty disappointed in Jada. 1, for looking like Princess Leah in the Jaba the Hut episode and 2, for allowing her supposed 'Fashion savvy' daughter dress like a one armed robot.

Ke$ha

Caution: This is what happens when you 'Wake up feeling like P.Diddy' and proceed to 'Brush your teeth with a bottle of Jack.' Enough said.

Taylor Swift

And everyone should agree that Taylor Swift Rocked the AMAs for the best dressed. Her new look with straight hair and bangs. She wore an embellished short dress by Collette Dinnigan and teamed it with studded Jimmy Choo shoes.

Who was your AMA Favorite?

Happy Bootday!

I've been looking for boots for what seems like eternity! And today was the day! I was exhausted after still trying to get well, serving lattes for Jesus at church all morning and cleaning the house for Thanksgiving company, but I heard A'Gaci calling my name... It was weird, but I heard the call and responded quickly.

Here's the loot:
Black faux suede strappy boot @A'gaci $34.50

Dark brown faux suede boot @A'Gaci $32.50
B.Flo brought to my attention that I have some leather brown boots that look similar to the brown ones I purchased... Ummm, one is leather and this one is obviously faux suede... These are dark brown and the ones I have are just brown... Totally different Dude! Haha! Oops... My mom was asking what if the strappy look isn't in next year. But if it's only $30, who cares right? 2 pairs boots for $60 should be completely illegal!

So, go check out an A'Gaci near you. Luckily the one closest to me is Ginormous! And less than a mile away. Lucky or unlucky that it's so close...

I want to see your cute winter boots,
send me pics, Por Favor?

Wonderful Role Models Edition

Featured on Yahoo News
Leave it to Paris Hilton to do community service in style! The hotel heiress was snapped cleaning up graffiti along Hollywood Boulevard on Friday wearing tight black pants, big hoop earrings, and high heels. In September, Paris pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges related to a drug bust in Las Vegas. She was sentenced to a year of probation, was ordered to complete a drug abuse program, pay a $2,000 fine, and serve 200 hours of community service.
What kind of Role Model are you?

Birthday Blowout

I think I went through about 146 Puffs Plus Lotion tissues yesterday, and I spent my birthday in bed with my laptop. Yesterday I felt horrible, but today I'm feeling much better! I'm not sure why, but I cannot stop sneezing... I have probably gone through 56 tissues in the last 3hrs, but it's good to know that everything is coming out :)

A HUGE thank you to all of my family, friends and fans for all the birthday wishes! I am very blessed to have people in my life that care. Here is a pic of some of the gifts that I received:

I LOVE everything, and you people know me well! I am a seriously Blessed Girl!

I got an email this morning from Charlotte Russe. They are having their buy one get one for $15 shoe deal right now. That's a pretty amazing deal! They have some super-cute shoes/boots. Some kinda look like hooker shoes and some have just too high of a heel for me... But I'm sure there is something for everybody. Check it out...

*Happy Birthday to MOI*

I'm sitting here typing this with my head tilted to the side in hopes that the snot will drain from one side to the other... Sounds lovely huh? I thought by doing 2hrs at the gym tonight I'd sweat everything out and feel great! I did sweat a lot, but I feel horrible ;( I did an hour of Boxing Bootcamp, which I felt like the teacher seriously wanted to kill me! It was awesome, but really hard. And then I did an hour of super hardcore power yoga... I will be downing some Theraflu Sore Throat shortly. I had acupuncture earlier today to help everything start draining out of my head. It's working and always does. My next go-to after acupuncture is the Theraflu Sore Throat. Doesn't matter if I feel like I have the flu or not, if I feel bad, I drink this stuff and it makes everything better :)

So many things happened today!
1. Eva and Tony are getting divorced... Does this surprise me? No. But I do wish that people would try something new for a change and actually stay married. Why do the courts make it so easy to split?
We will probably never know what really happened, but you can read the rumors here if you'd like.

2. Forever 21 is offering Daily Holiday Specials that give you 20% off of select items. Different items for a day at a time. To check out the deals click here.

3. Everyone is coming out with their Black Friday ads, and you don't want to miss out on these phenomenal deals. So get your boots and gloves ready, along with your tent and Starbucks canteen, so you can get the best place in line and shop til you drop next Friday! We're talking small appliances for small change people! Like a toaster for $3, these prices should be illegal. Check out the details here.

4. This one may be the most important of them all....

*My birthday gift to you*- Starting on my birthday until the 21st from 2-5pm, buy one holiday drink from Starbucks and get one free. Tis the season! Surprise your friend or loved one with the free drink. By the way, in case you were guessing, you guessed right. Starbucks did ask me if I would allow them to share my special day with their special deal, and of course, I thought it was a brilliant idea!

5. I've used 10 Kleenexes while typing this. And I need your prayers so that I can celebrate my birthday tomorrow healthy and in great spirits!

Please feel free share any holiday
deals that you come across!
Arrivederci, Baby!

*Jem- Truly Outrageous!*

Remember Jem? She was truly outrageous wasn't she? Haha! It's funny to think that Hannah Montana really is the modern day Jem. Way to be creative Disney!

With the weather changing from nice and bearable to freezing and miserable, it's brought on the common case of the head stuffiness, sniffles and cough for many... including myself. How Lovely! Here's me after a day of snot and coughing until I almost puked-
"Is that a Jem Truly Outrageous sweatshirt that she's wearing?"Why yes it is! And yes, you should be jealous that I have the most amazing friends in the world, and one truly outrageous friend that would give me this incredible piece of memorabilia. She knows that if I could turn myself PiNK, I would. And Jem with her Punk PiNK hair is just a small glimpse of the person that I want to be when I grow up... Yes I'm joking, sorta.

I actually was a little bit of a super hero tonight. Despite my inability to breathe normally, I made a pretty good dinner. It sounds very odd, but was actually delicious! It's called Pumpkin Turkey Chili! Sounds crazy right? Actually, you can't even taste the pumpkin at all whatsoever, and it gives it a rich texture. Here's the recipe that I used from allrecipes.com: Pumpkin Turkey Chili. I did add black beans and taco seasoning. It's very healthy and tasty too!

Unfortunately Jem sweatshirts aren't easy to come by these days. I'm sure you could find a cheap way to maybe make one yourself. But if not, it's on Amazon for bit of a pretentious price.

Rainbow Brite & Strawberry Shortcake were also my

Attention: ALL BARGAIN SHOPPERS!!!

You need to make like a Bee and Buzz over to Arden B's website NOW! Buzz, Buzz, Buzz!

They are having an Amazing Sale that will Rock your Socks off and more! And if you didn't think it could get any better, it just did. Shipping is $5!

Here's what's not on sale that I really wanted:
Here's something that is on sale, that I really wanted. The reason I didn't get them is because I honestly cannot do heels over 4". Maybe it's because I'm getting old and seeing veins popping out of my legs that I didn't see before... Or maybe it's because after 3minutes in these super-cute, sexy boots I want to chop my legs off because my feet hurt so bad. If they were only a little shorter...
$62.30 @Arden B.
I also really loved these, but wasn't sure that I liked them enough to buy them (I kinda want to try them on first).
$48.30 @Arden B. (They would look awesome with Jeggings)
So... Did you get anything???
So far I got 2 pants.

Health Segment: You eat what? And why?

I haven't gone into much detail about why I eat the way I do, so I thought I would share with you all...

After my mom went through a life changing experience of fighting an overseas parasite that took over her body, I began to understand the importance of what certain elements of what we eat can do to our bodies. Part of her healing process was that she could not eat gluten in order to restore her digestive system/intestines. I thought it odd, and impossible to ever be able to do this for myself. Here I am now, gluten-free.

I've always had a lot of digestive issues growing up, they turned into chronic stomach aches as I got older, and no doctor could ever help me. My mom diagnosed me with a milk allergy at the age of 13 after touring the metro area's allergists my entire life. About a year ago, I decided to start trying out the gluten-free products to see how I liked them. The result: I LOVED them, and so did my husband. I felt a lot better not eating gluten. And really, it was all a mind game I had to conquer. Once I determined that I was no longer going to eat gluten, I trained my mind to understand the benefits. I don't even want the cookies or bread that have gluten. I don't have celiac, so if I really want to take a bite of someone's wedding cake, I can. But 9 times out of 10, it doesn't even bother me not to have stuff with gluten. The only time it does become a problem is at catered events, receptions, and whatnot. If they only have choices of pasta, I'm kinda screwed and have to leave starving...

Over time as our food becomes more and more processed, more and more gluten is added to the mixture, and that's why we're seeing so many people being diagnosed with Celiac or a gluten intolerance. It's becoming more of a problem. But people's awareness is much better than it was even 5 years ago, and so are the products.

Some of my favorite gluten-free brands are: Namaste, Udi's, Pamela's, Schär, Amy's, and the list goes on because I'm always finding something new.

Schär: A European-based company that was a pioneer to the gluten-free industry. They have been around for 25 years. They just came to Sprouts, and I haven't seen this brand at Whole Foods yet. But it is AMAZING!!! I've only tried a few products, but I'm in LOVE with their pasta. You seriously cannot even tell that it's Gluten-Free. Another one of my favorites of theirs is:
They taste Exactly like Oreos! Only they're healthier and easier to digest!

Pamela's: Since 1988 Pamela's has created a new standard in wheat-free and gluten-free foods. They've combined the finest all natural ingredients for superior taste and texture. Pamela's is what made me make the switch. I am obsessed with all of their products. I made biscuits out of their baking mix the other night and B.Flo loved them and asked, "What material are these made out of?" Yeah, more of the B.Flo-isms later... But that just means they're great. My absolute favorite mix:
I make these cookies with extra virgin coconut oil instead of butter, and all I can say is that they taste totally gourmet! The bread mix is awesome as well, I make it in my bread maker often.

And last, but not least, I wanted to mention the all-time favorite household GF product of them all: Udi's pizza crust. We could eat this every single night and B.Flo would be the happiest guy in the world! I make his pizza with BBQ sauce, Canadian Bacon, pineapple and cheese. I make mine with spaghetti sauce, mushrooms, spinach and goat cheese.

So, that's a tidbit about me. What about you?

Do you eat a certain way for a certain reason?

Five Foxy Fall Trends

Check out this article that was featured on Fox News today (I love when the news realizes that fashion is newsworthy- it makes me smile!):

Sabrina Newman is the editor of the fashion and lifestyle blog, ANewMode.com

By nature, trends don't tend to stick around very long and are out of style just as soon as they become all the rage  (hello last season's 80's revival!). However, there are select "trends" that shouldn't even be lumped in that category since they have proven they can stand the test of time (paging all things boho-chic!).

The Fall 2010 runways were replete with fresh, fashion-forward styles that can help update your wardrobe now and keep you stylish for years to come.

Read on for our top 5 timeless trend picks!

Neutrals
Pale neutral shades like peach, ivory, beige, and pale pink have replaced black as the new go-to hue. The Fall 2010 and Spring 2011 runways were heavily dominated by monochrome neutral looks and you can't have a red carpet event these days without seeing at least one starlet rocking an LND (Little Nude Dress). So what's so great about going nude? Well for starters, pale shades are just as slimming as black but are more flattering against just about any complexion. Plus, neutral pieces are more versatile and can be styled to suit any season. Just add opaque tights, a cozy knit and a pair of boots to those light, ethereal dresses you wore with sandals in the summer and you're all set with a fabulous fall-ready ensemble.

If you’re feeling iffy about wearing light shades during the dark seasons, don’t!  Once upon a time, being "fashionable" meant abiding by a set of stringent rules: no white after Labor Day, no socks and sandals, no clashing prints. Fortunately those days are over and the rules are there ain't no rules. So invest in some floaty cream blouses, nude cocktail frocks, beige pants, flesh-tone pumps- this shade is here to stay so work it!

Military
The military trend is one that never really goes away, it just resurfaces at different levels, and right now it's marching on stronger than ever. There are so many types of military pieces to choose from- vests, jackets, pants, skirts, dresses, even bags and shoes, all of which can update your wardrobe and inject a fashion-forward sensibility into your style.

Pair a military jacket with a feminine dress to merge soft and tough. Wear a pair of cargos with sexy pumps and a sharp blazer for a sexy and sophisticated style that radiates effortlessness. And we have to give an honorable mention to the army jacket which literally goes with anything and always speaks chic. Great style is all about balance and military pieces are ideal when it comes to mixing and matching different elements.

Florals
While florals for Spring may not be so groundbreaking, as Miranda Priestley, Meryl Streep's character in "The Devil Wears Prada," famously pointed out, fall florals feel fresh and a bit unexpected.  Florals are the perfect way to soften up heavy, dreary fall and winter wears by adding that flirty, feminine feel that can't help but make you feel pretty

Fall florals don’t strictly need to match to fall foliage and on the runways, we saw bright, bold shaded florals as well as rich jewel-toned ones. The key to making this pretty print work during the colder months is texture contrast. Mix and match your frilly florals with heavier and more structured items- a floral frock with a chunky cardigan, a floral skirt with a soft knit, a floral blouse with a tailored blazer. The point is, this look is a do so dig out those pretty florals that you stowed away for spring and rock 'em right now!

Plaid
Almost every season, plaid prints get hailed as the hot new trend which pretty much means they've transcended the 'trend' confines, becoming classic staples that everyone should own. And options are in no short supply- classic plaid shirts, sophisticated plaid skirts, warm wooly plaid coats, funky plaid pants, there is a plaid-printed option for every closet essential.

Plaid has been reinterpreted in so many different ways over the decades and is definitely one of the most versatile styles out there. Can you think of anything else that works just as well for cool hipsters as it does for rugged hunters and construction workers? Which can create a classic Ralph Lauren Americana style as well as a rebellious '90s-inspired grunge look? Plaid was once a fall/winter only staple but we've already learned that nothing is seasonal anymore and as such, the plaid invasion was even stronger on the Spring 2011 runways, solidifying its fate as a year-round can’t-miss.

Kitten Heels
Little kitten heels are back in a big way and ladies everywhere should rejoice. Kitten heels are the perfect middle-ground between regular heels and flats and will give you a little lift, and sexy swagger, while keeping you comfortable throughout the day. The kitten heel trend was largely pioneered by Jackie O and the torch is being carried by current first ladies like Michelle Obama and Carla Bruni Sarzoky (credit also goes to mini-fashionista Suri Cruise). These ladies all prove that suffering for fashion is obsolete and practicality and style can co-exist.

The response to the resurgence of kitten heels has been overwhelming and these days you can't enter a shoe department without seeing a bevy of low-heeled styles. Women are so smitten by the kitten that there are low-heeled alternatives to just about every shoe and boot style, from classic pointy-toe pumps to over-the-knee boots and everything in between. Based on the evidence, this trend isn’t going anywhere so if you’re loving it, invest in a pair- your feet will thank you!

The Bubble Invader

So, it started with a vigorous schedule at the gym... I started with an hour of Athletic Training, which is 3 minutes of cardio, 3 minutes of weights, back to back for 60 minutes. Then I did 15 minutes of abs (some of the time was spent texting my husband about the crazy lady who wears all the wrong things and stuff ends-up showing that really needs to stay covered- every gym has a least one). And I finished with an hour of Danceaton. Danceaton is a dance class that consists of hip-hop, salsa, reggaeton etc. and is choreographed by the famous Gaby Gnazzo (yes she is famous, and you can find her on Facebook, she accepts everyone as her friend).

Let's insert a cute gym outfit here:

Got both from TJ Maxx- Pants were free
from my beloved Gaby and tank was $4.99

Back the invader... There's a lady that comes to several of the classes that I attend. I'm very glad for anyone that likes to get their workout on, and invite everyone to workout with me- I have great gym-friends! However, I'm not glad for people that think their name is carved into a certain "spot" on the floor, and no matter when they decide to come to the gym or where you're standing, that's their "spot" and they will stand directly on top of you.

Let's call her Handkerchief girl. I've already been working out for 80 minutes, I stayed in the same place. I set-up in one place, and stay (like most people). Even if I go and put my weights back does not entitle one to come and take over my spot, because all of my stuff is there. So, I'm in my spot and have been for 80 minutes, my friends are in their spots for various amounts of time. And in comes Handkerchief girl, late to class, but for some reason thinks she's entitled to her "spot" no matter what time or who's standing in it, she's going to stand there. She actually started out a bit further back than normal, behind my friend (actually she was kinda on top of my friend, but slightly behind). And already by the 3rd song in Danceton, she's ended up directly next to me. And when you get in my bubble, it's no bueno for you. And really, it doesn't matter where you stand, or if you try and make it clear that you're standing your ground, she moves all over the place in her "spot," so her spot is like 15 feet by 15 feet.

She puts her stuff directly on top of my stuff, or on the other side of my stuff- farther away from herself so she has to step in front of me to get to it. So every time, I move her stuff closer to her and farther from me. And don't worry, I'm not the only one that she bothers. A month or so ago she says, "your husband almost kicked me in kickboxing." I said "Really? Then you should probably get out of his way so that doesn't happen." B.Flo gets beyond frustrated with her and makes me stand next to her, and then I 'almost' kick her, basically warning her to get out of my way... I could avoid Handkerchief girl and stand on the opposite side, but the same people always come to class and they all have their "spots."

Luckily for her, she didn't actually get inside my bubble last night, but if it's not during Danceton, it's during Kickboxing, so we'll see what happens Saturday. Ever heard of gym etiquette? Apparently we need a class for that as well....
