38 Weeks

I made it through the Blue Moon weekend. BFlo was convinced that our girlfriend would come this weekend with the help of the Blue Moon- unfortunately for him, that didn't happen :( It must've worked for some, because the hospital was pretty packed! In the case that you don't know what a Blue Moon is (because I didn't) here's what I googled:
August 2012 is a month with two full moons. And, by popular acclaim, that means it’s a Blue Moon month – but Blue in name only. That’s because a Blue Moon is sometimes defined as the second full moon in a calendar month. The first full moon was August 1. The second full moon was – August 31, 2012. The second full moon of August 2012 is the Blue Moon. Happy Blue Moon, everyone! (http://earthsky.org/astronomy-essentials/when-is-the-next-blue-moon)
Not sure when our girlfriend is going to come, could be any day now. I still feel great! Worked out 4 days the past week, finishing up some projects, wishing a could forget about work all together and finally got the house clean. Hopefully she comes while it's still clean ;)

As you can see, college football season has started and BFlo is on cloud 9 while practicing with his new LSU burpcloth that I made. We also found some LSU pacifiers for his diaper dude bag. I also girlfriend-ized Luciana's LSU onsie with a yellow homemade tutu with a ribbon tie in the back. I need to make a matching headband to complete her game day look :)

And while we're on the topic of making things, I made myself a nursing cover- which was on my to-do list to accomplish prior to giving birth. I told myself that I wanted to teach myself to sew before the baby was born, so within the last 6wks, I've purchased a sewing machine, made several burpcloths, sewed on a tutu and now made a nursing cover to avoid exposing myself. Still working on those straight lines...

I followed this tutorial and left out the pocket and terry cloth since the girl said she never used them. The boning will allow me to check out our girl and make sure all is well. I was trying to be efficient and fold the fabric prior to cutting to save myself extra cutting time. In turn, I created a whole new project for myself, because I actually cut the fabric in half and had to sew it back together. I didn't want to waste my beautiful fabric! Thankfully you can't really tell that there was ever a mistake.

Next sewing project- coffee sleeves. Yeah, I'm random, but they're so cute!!! You can check out the tutorial that I found here.

  1. How awesome that you made your own nursing cover! I got a lot of use out of mine.
